To successfully conduct an event such as this, the assistance of many people is required. If you, your partner or someone you know would like to help, please contact us. Any help will be most appreciated.
Volunteers assist us in many different ways:
- registration of walkers (in and out)
- cycling and route marshals
- sweep walkers
- checkpoint staff along the various courses (this is where most of our volunteers are needed)
- shop sales
If any of these roles interest you, please contact us for more information.
Our friendly checkpoint staff (and all of our other wonderful volunteers) are truly appreciated by the walkers.
Detailed instructions are provided for all volunteers, and new volunteers are placed with experienced volunteers. Volunteers usually work a 1/2 day shift (approx 4 hours) on one or both days.
Long term volunteers can also earn special volunteer medals.
We have also made special arrangements for volunteers that also want to walk. In 2020 our “volunteer walks” will be held on 28-29 March 2020, starting at 8am for all distances (but please arrive 15min early). Volunteers will need to ensure they register to walk prior to this time to ensure there is sufficient bus transport provided on the Sunday. Further details will be provided by email.
