“Free” IVV Walks in Australia
- World Walking Day (May) and St Nicholas Embassy Walk (Dec) in Canberra, jointly with ACT Walking For Pleasure (WFP) – we generally collect a $2 donation to Heart Foundation. Details of these walks are published in the Walking For Pleasure newsletter (The Capital Wanderer) and are advised via our email list and social media.
- AussieWalk AGM walk held in conjunction with the AGM each year.
- Heart Foundation Walking (HFW) – for any walks undertaken with HFW across Australia that are a minimum of 5km (or at least 1 hour duration) – note that (in addition to your local HFW group) walkers must also be registered in the HFW “AussieWalk” group for visibility – search under postcode 2600 to register and/or join – go to walking.heartfoundation.org.au then select Getting Started > Find a Walk
- parkrun (parkwalks) – for weekly 5km run/walks, with the opportunity to take the distance up to 10km by completing the course a second time and logging a “freedom run/walk” – all participants must first register at parkrun.com.au and select “AussieWalk” as your running club for visibility, and ensure you take your barcode to each event to be scanned – your membership barcode can be used at any parkrun (parkwalk) worldwide, but only Australian parkruns count for IVV credit.
