What personal data we collect and why we collect it

We collect information about you when you register and participate in one of our events. This information is provided by you when you submit your entry form; either directly with us, or through our third party on-line registration provider. The information we collect will include your name, date of birth, address and contact details; together with your event history. This information is updated and maintained indefinitely in our database to ensure you receive the correct award in future years.

No personal information is passed to any third party for advertising or other commercial purposes. Personal information may need to be provided to emergency or other services in the case of an accident or incident during an event.

Each year entry information is sent to past participants and others who have separately registered on our email list. If you wish to be removed from our email list please let us know. If you wish your contact details to be removed in toto from our participant database please contact us. This could impact on your ability to claim an award in subsequent years.

Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.
